This is a field role, not a desk one. You will spend most of your week walking
into salons, chemists, beauty stores and boutique retailers across Kolkata,
opening a jar, explaining what bhringraj actually does, and coming back with an
order. When people meet 11 Roots for the first time, they will be meeting you.

What a Tuesday actually looks like
Field sales is described in job posts far more attractively than it is lived. So
here is a real day, with the boring parts left in.
-
9:30 am
Plan the route before you move. Six stops in one neighbourhood beats three across the city — two follow-ups, four cold.
-
10:30 am
First store. The owner is busy and you have ninety seconds. You open the jar, they smell it, and either the conversation starts or it does not. Both are normal.
-
1:00 pm
Two soft yeses, one flat no, and one owner asking why our amla costs more than the brand already on their shelf. That question is the job. You need a real answer, not a slogan.
-
3:00 pm
A salon that stocked us last month has sold through six units and wants eight more. You take the order and ask what customers said.
-
5:30 pm
Log everything — who you met, what they ordered, what they objected to. The unglamorous half of the role, and the half that compounds.
What you would own
-
Opening new stores
Finding and pitching salons, chemists, beauty retailers and boutiques across Kolkata, then closing the first order.
-
Keeping them stocked
Regular revisits and reorders before a store runs empty. A store that runs out quietly stops being a store that stocks you.
-
Explaining the product properly
Training shop staff to talk about the herbs the way we would. If they cannot answer a customer's question, the jar stays on the shelf.
-
Bringing the market back to us
What customers ask for, what they refuse to pay, which format sells. You will be our clearest view of the market.
-
Local marketing on the ground
Sampling, in-store displays and small activations. Practical marketing that happens in a place, not in a spreadsheet.
Who this suits, and who it doesn't
This is for you if
- You can walk into a shop unannounced and start a conversation
- You sell comfortably in Bengali and Hindi, with workable English
- You can hear no all morning and still be sharp at the sixth store
- You are curious about the herbs, not just the targets
- You keep your own records without being chased
- You can move around Kolkata independently
This is not for you if
- You want a fixed desk and a predictable calendar
- You would rather run ads than talk to shopkeepers
- You need a big brand name to open a conversation
- You want a process handed to you — this one does not exist yet
How to apply
Email careers@11roots.in with the
subject line Sales & Marketing — Kolkata. Attach a CV if you
have one. If you do not, tell us what you have sold before and to whom.
Then answer one question in the email: name three shops in Kolkata you
would walk into first, and why those three. Two or three sentences is
plenty. That is the whole test.
After that, a call, then half a day visiting stores with us so you can see the
work before committing to it. We reply either way within a week.
